Noisy dimmer when tied to recessed lights

I hooked one of these up to 6 recessed lights I installed in my kitchen. It was very noisy even though my 450 Watts of lights should be well below the 600W rating. I realize all dimmers hum slightly, but this was obnoxious and I had to return it.
