Worked Perfectly for Me

I have a setup where the main device is a desktop computer and the controlled devices are a monitor, speakers, and a lamp. I plugged them all in and it just worked.

Reading other reviews, I thought I would have to fiddle around to get it to work the way I wanted, but luckily that was not the case.

I would have like to purchase the black strip, but I guess that's more of a seller thing.

Anyway, worked well right out of the box for me.

Nice product, but beware with amps

There has bee a recent trend in eliminating switched power outlets on most current stereo receivers, for reasons I don't understand.

I have a CD player that has a push-button type power switch. I used to plug it into the switched receiver outlet so that it came on and off with my stereo receiver. Since most newer receivers don't have these outlets, I decided to use one of these to power my CD player on and off with my receiver as the triggering device. That works well and I'm happy with it.

I was also hoping to use this power strip to turn my subwoofer on and off, rather than putting my subwoofer in the 'auto' mode, to save a little power. It worked ok and would power the sub on and off but I ended up not using it for the sub. There was a loud 'thump' from the subwoofer some of the time when the power strip turned on. This is common with amplifiers when the power comes on abruptly. So, I don't recommend using this to switch any kind of amplifier on/off as it could damage your speaker (subwoofer) long term. This is not really a defect in this power strip. The way to avoid this is use some power source that ramps up slower (like a power conditioner, but they can be costly).

The default setting on the power strip worked with my device too.

Finicky

The strip worked with two of my electrical set-ups and did not work with two others. It didn't like my laptop as the main device or my Energy Star TV. For the laptop, I did followed the adjustment instructions and it seemed to be working fine, but then just stopped working properly. I move the strip to a set-up with our flat screen TV and it worked fine. For the Energy Star TV, when I adjusted it so it would turn everything off, I couldn't turn my TV back on again. Only worth the money if you love hours trouble shooting. I'm going back to using a regular power strip and just turning it off myself when I'm not using it.

So easy to use!

This product is great!! It is so easy to use...all I had to do was plug it in and it was ready to go. The only thing is the one that the TV, surround sound,& DVD player is plug into, when I turn the TV on,the satellite system takes awhile to restart, and I have to manually turn on the surround sound and DVD system. Its a small price to pay to save energy!Overall, I would highly recommend this product!! :)

smart to have a smart surge!!
